AHEC Phone Tips

The Auraria Campus has both analog and digital phone lines. The following tips are for both types of phones.

Make an On-Campus Call

AHEC has two telephone prefixes:

  • 303-556-xxxx
  • 303-352-xxxx

You can call directly between the two prefixes with abbreviated 5-digit dialing. For example:

  • 303-556-1234 = x61234
  • 303-352-1234 = x21234

Make an Off-Campus Call

 

Dial an off-campus, local phone number. Enter 9 + phone number.

Dial a domestic long distance number.
 
Enter 9 + 1 + phone number.
Listen for tone, then enter authorization code (if applicable, ask your office administrator for code).
Dial an international long distance number. Enter 9 + 011 + country code + phone number.
Listen for tone, then enter authorization code (if applicable, ask your office administrator for code).

Send all calls to voicemail

Activate by pressing *3.

Deactivate by pressing #3.
 

Answer calls at another extension (if set up by Telecommunications)

When you hear the extension ringing, press #4 from another extension to pick up the call.
 

Forward your calls to another extension

Activate by pressing *2.

Deactivate by pressing #2.

Voicemail messages will collect on your extension, not the extension twhich you forwarded your calls.
 

Redial

Press *9.
 

Analog Phone Features

The analog phones are beige in color and offer a few simple features.
 

Place a call on hold.

Press the switch hook, recall, or flash button.
The call is placed on hold (do not hang up; this drops the call).
To return to the held call, press the switch hook, recall, or flash button—the held call is reconnected.

Transfer a call.

Press the switch hook, recall, or flash button.
Listen for dial tone—caller is automatically placed on hold.
Enter the five-digit extension for the third party.
When third party answers, announce the call and hang up—the call is transferred.

Make a conference call
 (for 3 parties).

Dial first number and announce to party that you are adding a third party.
Press the switch hook, recall, or flash button.
Listen for recall dial tone (three fast beeps and a dial tone)—caller is automatically placed on hold.
Enter the five-digit campus extension, or enter 9 + area code + number.
When third party answers, announce call.
Re-press switch hook, recall, or flash button once time to establish the three-way conversation.

Digital Phone Features

 

Make a conference Call
 (for up to six parties).

To add another party to a call
Press the Conf button; wait for the dial tone.
Dial the number of the new party and wait for an answer.
Add the new party to the line by pressing the Conf button again.
Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for additional conference connections.

To add a call currently on hold to another call you are connected to
Press the Conf button; wait for the dial tone.
Press the call appearance button of the call on hold.
Press the Conf button again to connect all parties to the same line.

Program autodial buttons

Dial *0, select the button you want to assign for the autodial feature.
Press # (include 9 for outside calls) or enter five digit extension.
Press the same button you want to assign the number to and it will lock in the autodial number.
To change an existing number follow same instructions.
