In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the Auraria Higher Education Center issued the following notices of crimes that occurred on the Auraria Campus. A "timely warning" is issued to the campus community via email when incidents of criminal activity as defined by the Clery Act occur on campus or within the immediate vicinity of campus, and when the criminal activity represents an ongoing threat to campus.


Timely Warnings: 2023 (Current Year)

10-04-2023-Timely Warning: Attempted Aggravated Assault

Timely Warning #2-2023

TYPE OF CRIME: Attempted Aggravated Assault at the RTD bus stop located at 11th Street and Auraria Parkway.

REPORTED OFFENSE: The Auraria Campus Police and Denver Police are investigating an Attempted Aggravated Assault that occurred at approximately 07:17 AM on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the RTD bus stop. The suspect attempted to spray the victim with what was reported as pepper spray.  The male suspect fled the area eastbound into Downtown Denver. The victim was unharmed.

SUSPECT: The suspect is described as a black male, unknown age, thin build wearing a black hoodie, a black face covering, and a black backpack. Suspect was riding a black road bike.


05-26-2023-Timely Warning: Sexual Assault (Forcible Fondling)

Timely Warning #1-2023

TYPE OF CRIME: Forcible Fondling on the light rail train between Auraria West Station and Mile High Station

REPORTED OFFENSE: Auraria Campus Police and Denver Police are investigating a Sexual Assault (Forcible Fondling) that occurred at approximately 05:35 PM on Friday, May 26, 2023, while on the RTD light rail heading north from the Auraria West Light Rail Station towards the Mile High Light Rail Station, a female sexually assaulted a male on the train. The suspect fled the area on the Light Rail train towards Union Station.

SUSPECT: The suspect is described as a black female, 30’s, 5’08”, medium build wearing a blue tank top with a Colorado flag and red bottoms. Last known direction of travel; on light rail train heading towards Union Station.

 Blue light emergency telephones: Be aware of the blue light emergency telephones in parking lots and walkways throughout campus. Use these telephones to be immediately connected with the Auraria Campus Police Department.

•  Bystanders: Be aware of your surroundings. If you see a person in distress, seek immediate help from the Auraria Campus Police Department.
