Concert Hall


The Concert Hall is considered one of the best halls in the region for its rich sound and tasteful interior. The largest of the three performance spaces, the Concert Hall is designed with both the audience and performer in mind, keeping the audience close to the stage, while accommodating a variety of ensembles from orchestras and choirs to small musicals and operas, or both a large orchestra and choir simultaneously.

Eugenia Rawls Courtyard Theatre

The Rawls Theatre is one of three of-its-kind in the world, being the only facility in the United States designed as three theatre spaces in one. The audience can be configured as a thrust theatre, a theatre-in-the-round, or a traditional proscenium arch stage (Broadway style). 

Unique Features

  • Reminiscent of an old opera house, with opera boxes wrapping around the stage
  • Two pivoting seating towers rotate onto the thrust stage to create the theatre-in-the-round
  • Only space in the U.S.A, at this time, providing access for persons with disabilities to the catwalk 
  • Three seating levels handle up to 268 people, depending on configuration 

King Center Recital Hall

A charming and intimate space, the Recital Hall benefits students and professional performers alike. The incredible acoustics make the Hall ideal for solo performers, small ensembles, small theatrical scenes, lectures, and film.

Unique Features

  • Proscenium style with the stage at one end
  • Green seating, carpet, and lobby
  • Pitched concrete blocks in the sidewalls, acoustical clouds in the ceiling, maple sound reflectors, and maple floor
  • Less strain on instruments, allowing students to develop technique
  • Seats up to 200 people

Institutional Spaces

CCD, CU Denver, and MSU Denver each have performing arts spaces in the King Center, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and run by the respective institution’s students and staff.

Unique Features

  • Combination studio/production spaces, and combination rehearsal spaces/dressing rooms
  • Only spaces in the region with tension grid catwalk system, allowing complete access to the entire overhead space
  • Allows for flexibility in programming
  • Enables variations in performance space set-up
