In accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order D0036-90, C.R.S. 25-14-103 and in compliance with the recent Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification requirements, AHEC has adopted the following smoke-free environmental policy.
This policy requires state buildings and vehicles to provide and maintain a smoke-free environment, including the prohibition of smoking within twenty-five feet away from entries, outdoor air intakes and operable windows to minimize exposure to environmental tobacco smoke.
· Campus owned or leased buildings,
· At least twenty-five feet from entries, outdoor air intakes and operable windows;
· Campus vehicles, including automobiles, shuttles, trucks, vans and golf carts.
· Outdoors, except as noted above, or where otherwise prohibited by signage;
· Outdoor eating areas, unless designated as non-smoking.
The success of this policy depends upon the thoughtfulness, consideration, good will and cooperation of both smokers as well as non-smokers. All members of the Auraria Campus community, as well as visitors, share in the responsibility of adhering to and enforcing this policy.
