Smoke-Free Environment

Purpose

Pursuant to and in compliance with the Governor’s Executive Order D0036-90 and C.R.S. 25-14-103, which require state buildings and vehicles to provide and maintain a smoke-free environment, AHEC adopts the following smoke-free environmental policy. Department heads are responsible for ensuring that faculty, staff, students, and visitors are informed of and comply with this policy.

Statement

 

A.  Smoking is not permitted in the following areas:

  • Campus owned or leased buildings;

  • Within twenty feet of an exit or entrance or open window of a campus owned or leased building;

  • Campus vehicles, including automobiles, shuttles, trucks and vans.

B.  Smoking is permitted in the following areas:

  • Outdoors, except within twenty feet of an exit or entrance or open window, or where otherwise prohibited by signage;

  • Outdoor eating areas, unless designates as no smoking.
