State Owned Vehicles

 

This policy applies to all licensed vehicle operators on the Auraria Campus.

 

Institutional Directors and/or AHEC Division Directors are responsible for ensuring that each employee receives the required training on the use of a State owned vehicle and sign a "State Owned Service Vehicle/Cart Policy and Practices Review" form (attachment A).

 

Requirements for all campus employees operating State owned vehicles are as follows:

  1. All campus employees operating a State owned vehicle will have a current and valid Drivers License on his/her person while operating a State vehicle.

  2. Supervisors will be responsible for each employee, under his/her supervision, receiving this policy, reviewing the campus routes, completing the "State Owned Vehicle/Cart Policy and Practices Review" form (Attachment A) and sending a copy of the form to the appropriate campus Human Resource Department to file in the employee's personnel file.

  3. All employees operating State owned vehicles must be familiar with the Fleet Management Blue Book (e.g. State Publication #89212310), contained in each State owned vehicle.

  4. All Federal, State, local and campus rules must be obeyed while driving a State owned vehicle on or off campus.

  5. Any instance of careless, negligent or impaired operation of a State owned vehicle will be reviewed by the Institutional Directors and/or appropriate AHEC Division Director.  Employees determined to have been careless, negligent or impaired while operating a State owned vehicle, shall be subject to corrective and/or disciplinary action.  All costs incurred in the repair of loss of a vehicle through the negligence or misconduct of any operator shall be chargeable to the employing division.

  6. Accidents involving campus vehicles must be reported immediately to the AHEC Campus Police and Security Division.
