Calculating Salary for Employees

 

New Hires:

 

Supervisors may hire a new employee at any rate up to 10% above the minimum salary for the class.

 

Any request for a salary rate that exceeds 10% above the minimum salary rate must be justified by the supervisor in writing and approved by the Division Director and the Budget Director. In no case may the monthly salary exceed the job rate for the class.

 

Salary Increase on Promotions and Reallocations:

 

Base pay for employees receiving an upward movement may remain the same or increase up to 12.5%. In no case shall the new base rate be lower than the minimum or higher than the job rate of the new grade.

 

If current base pay is at or above job rate in the new grade it shall remain the same; however, the employee may receive a non-base building promotional award up to the maximum of the new grade for the remainder of the fiscal year.
