TIMELY NOTIFICATION BULLETIN FOR THE AURARIA CAMPUS

INDECENT EXPOSURE NEAR ST. FRANCIS CENTER
April 30, 2012 - 8:10 p.m.

In compliance with the "Timely Notice" provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, the Auraria Higher Education Center located in Downtown Denver is issuing notice of a violent crime that occurred on the Auraria Campus.

Although this crime occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m., it was not reported to Auraria Police about 7:05 p.m.

REPORTED OFFENSE: On Monday, April 30, 2012, at approximately 3:00 p.m., an indecent exposure crime occurred when a victim was approached by a male suspect that was soliciting responses to survey questions.  The victim complied only to find that the questions were sexual in nature.  Once the survey was complete, the suspect moved the clipboard from his pelvic area and exposed his genitals to the victim.  Based on the victim’s description (see below), Auraria Police believe the suspect to be the same as reported in two indecent exposure crimes on Friday, April 20, 2012, in the Plaza Building.  Auraria Police is actively investigating this incident in conjunction with Denver Police.

SUSPECT: The suspect is described as a black male, 5’-10” to 6” in height, clean-shaven with brown eyes and a buzzed hair cut.  The suspect was wearing blue and white plaid shorts, a white, buttoned-collared shirt, white socks with tennis shoes, and a solid green-colored military style hat.  The suspect also carried a clipboard.

REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY: The Auraria Police Department urges everyone to use caution when encountering individuals who are not personally known to them and to stay aware of their surroundings at all times.  Please report any suspicious activity or suspicious persons to the Auraria Campus Police Department.

If you have any information that might be helpful in this investigation contact the Auraria Police Department at 303-556-5000; in person at 1201 5th Street, Administration Building, Room 110; or anonymously through the "Comments" line at 303-556-2677. Please encourage anyone with information to assist us in keeping the campus safe.
