TIMELY NOTIFICATION BULLETIN FOR THE AURARIA CAMPUS
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY/ASSAULT

In compliance with the "Timely Notice" provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, the Auraria Higher Education Center located in Downtown Denver is issuing notice of a violent crime that occurred on the Auraria Campus.

REPORTED OFFENSE: On Monday, March 8, 2010, at approximately 3:20 p.m., a female student from Metro State College, while walking westbound along the sidewalk at 7th and Lawrence Streets, was the victim of an assault/attempted robbery. The student was grabbed by the arm from behind by an unknown suspect who attempted to steal the student’s purse which she carried in her hand. A struggle ensued, resulting in the suspect punching the student in the stomach then fleeing the area in an unknown direction. The Auraria Police Department is currently investigating.

SUSPECT: The suspect is described as a white male, 5', 10" - 6', 2", 25-30 years of age, skinny to medium build, short dark black hair, dark eyes, with a red facial complexion.

REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY: The Auraria Police Department urges everyone to use caution when encountering individuals who are not personally known to them and to stay aware of their surroundings at all times.  Please report any suspicious activity or suspicious persons to the Auraria Campus Police Department.
