December 17, 2010
Construction activities related to the Regional Transportation District (RTD’s) West Corridor light rail line project will begin on the Auraria Campus on December 20, 2010. Work is expected to last through fall 2011 and includes the construction of a new light rail station, rerouting of the SE/SW line light rail tracks, building a new section of Curtis Street, building tracks for the West Corridor and removal of the Burnham Yard Lead (the freight train tracks that run adjacent to the existing light rail).
During the semester break (December 20, 2010 – January 17, 2011), work will be happening in Curtis Street and 5th Street. Lot F will be permanently closed, and Lot B will be reduced in size and the 5th Street entrance will be closed. The new entrance to Lot B can be seen below – you can access the lot from Old Colfax.

Curtis Street will be closed to both vehicle and pedestrian access between the existing Curtis Street Train Crossing and Old Colfax Ave from December 20 – 31, 2010. To access parking areas on 5th Street or the Administration Building, please use Walnut Street. Curtis Street should reopen to traffic by Monday, January 3, 2011.
5th Street vehicular access will be closed from January 3 – 17, 2011. The portion of impacted 5th Street is between the existing 5th St Train Crossing (adjacent to the Administration Building) and Old Colfax Ave. To access Lot B, use Curtis Street. If going to Parking Lots A, E and G as well as the Administration Building, use Walnut Street. During this time, pedestrian access will be allowed on the 5th Street sidewalk.
Both 5th Street and Curtis Street will be open when spring semester starts on January 18, 2011.
During the spring semester, RTD will be doing road and track construction in parts of the former Parking Lots B and F.
