Tivoli Student Union To Be Closed on Saturdays Starting March 16

Building update

  • The Tivoli Student Union will be closed on Saturdays beginning Saturday, March 16, with card reader access only.
    • Card reader access is granted to employees only.

  • Tivoli tenants which include CCD, CU Denver, and MSU Denver faculty/staff, building vendors, and AHEC personnel that need weekend access please contact:
  • Campus study lounge access weekend availability:
    • Auraria Library https://library.auraria.edu/ . Sunday hours only.  9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
    • General assignment classroom buildings available with card access only.  7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Starbucks hours update
    • Monday – Thursday 6:30 a.m. -7:00 p.m., Friday’s 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
    • Closed Saturdays and Sundays
  • Northwest entrance 1st floor elevator back in service.

FAQs

Can I still book a Tivoli space for an event on a Saturday?

Yes, event spaces in the Student Tivoli Union can still be booked for events on Saturdays. Clients will be informed of which entrances to use to access their rental space when working with the events team.  

Why is this change in the Tivoli Student Union schedule being made?

Due to very limited use of the Tivoli Student Union by our campus community on the weekends, and limited staffing to monitor a very large building, there is a heightened risk to building security. With the exception of special event venues, the Tivoli Brewery is the only vendor or office open on Saturdays. The Tivoli Brewery hours will not be affected by this decision and patrons will enter via their patio. Special event venues will remain available for booking and select doors will be scheduled to support those activities.

Will the Saturday closures continue indefinitely?

Building hours are constantly evaluated and adjusted as needed. Common times for adjustment include break periods, holidays, and the start of every semester. As we continue to work towards a more vibrant campus, we hope to see an increase of activity that allows for the building to be open on weekends.

Will exceptions be made for weekend events?

Select doors will be scheduled to be open to support all weekend events, and venues are still available for booking. The Department of Special Events staff will work to identify which doors to open and communicate with clients for directional needs.
